The Portsmouth Arts Guild Annual Quilt and Fiber Arts Show
The Portsmouth Arts Guild Quilt and Fiber Arts Show celebrates our annual fiber exhibition featuring the members of the Prudence Island Quilters Guild and local fiber arts. All fiber artists are invited to join with the Prudence Island Quilters and enter your art created from fiber including recycled and repurposed mixed media fiber art. All submissions must include a fiber material or textile technique. Enter submissions online here through Smarter Entry.
This quilt show is a tribute to Gerry Oliveira whose quilt, “Cathedral Windows” will be available. She was a true fiber artist and member of the Prudence Island Quilter’s for 23 years.
Geraldine Oliveira, Cathedral Windows
Born February 18, 1948, Gerry graduated from Durfee High School in 1966 and continued her education at UMass (Southeastern Massachusetts University), graduating with a degree in Art in 1970. She moved then to Kansas City where she worked as an artist for 30 years at Hallmark cards.
Gerry returned to Massachusetts in 2000 to care for her beloved grandmother who had raised her and her twin brother Gerald from birth. She worked full time then part time for Joann’s and “sewed like crazy” according to her longtime friend and fellow quilter Maryann Jason.
Gerry will be remembered for her generous spirit and her beautiful handwork and beading. Her most infamous saying was ”Let’s junk it up!”. She passed peacefully on January 7, 2024.
Exhibit Dates: March 17 – April 21, 2024

In person Intake: Tuesday, March 12, 4 – 7pm, Portsmouth Arts Guild Hall
Opening Reception: Sunday, March 17, 2 – 4pm, Portsmouth Arts Guild, 2679 East Main Road, Portsmouth
Final Exhibit Day: Sunday, April 21, 2-4 pm
Member and Non-Member artists may submit up to three works. Submissions are limited to no larger than 50 x 60 inches and quilts and other fiber hanging items must include a sleeve for hanging. Work must be labeled with the artist’s name, email, and phone number, the title of the piece and price. All work must be for sale.
Entry Fees
Guild Members – $20.00 for the first entry and $5.00 each additional entry for up to three entries. Smarter Entry promo code for members PAGMEM.
Non-Members, $25.00 for the first, $7.50 for the second and $7.50 for the third.
Entry Fees are paid online through the Smarter Entry link in the Call for Artists link above. The Guild commission on gallery sales is 25%.
The Guild displays all artwork submitted on our Website Gallery and YouTube Channel.
PLEASE NOTE:
Artworks are not insured by PAG. Artists should maintain their own insurance while work is on Guild premises. Although we take the utmost care of all works submitted, PAG is not responsible for any damage incurred after drop-off. All packing material must be taken away by the artist upon drop off.
The Guild may utilize photographs of artwork for social media, promotions, newspapers and other media.
