Art on Rose Island
Join the Portsmouth Arts Guild as we travel to Rose Island to spend the day en Plein Air painting the spectacular views of the Lighthouse and Fort Hamilton.
Bring your paints, canvases, easel, etc. and we will supply the breathtaking views. This is our fourth annual trip and the past three events were full of inspiration and beauty! All abilities welcome! Pack a bagged lunch. Snacks and water provided.
This year we have a special treat in store as we will be painting alongside the Rose Island Artists in Residence. Each summer, the Rose Island Lighthouse invites Rhode Island-based artists to apply for a 6-night residency on the island. Up to 7 artists will stay in the island’s historic lighthouse buildings, have access to studio spaces located inside late 18th-century barracks, and have the opportunity to be inspired by the island’s natural environment and multi-layered history as they work on a project of their choice. Our group will be sharing our work and inspiration with them – truly a delight for all!

Getting There: Transportation provided on Rose Island’s own Island “Rose” launch boat, which leaves from Fort Adams at 9:30am and returns at 4:00 pm. The boat will make two trips for a total of 30 artists. More details upon registration.
