Enjoy 2 days of watercolor painting on Aquidneck Island with Bill Lane. Bill will start with a demo and then set you loose to paint the scene that speaks to you, while providing individual attention throughout the day.

Here are some of the things that we will touch upon during this workshop:

• Determine a scene that speaks to you: what feeling do you see and want to tell the viewer?

• Plan your painting, look for the right composition

• Determine your values BEFORE you begin

• Don’t loose sight of your vision

Location will be sent prior to the workshop.

About Bill Lane

Bill paints often both inside and out when the weather accommodates his winter plein air watercolors. He grew up in Newport and studied graphics at SMU (now UMass Dartmouth).

Artist Statement: “Everyday scenes from life intrigue me the most; be it a barren skyline, boats at the dock or city life on a busy day. I observe how the light plays into the scene and dances off the subjects. Because of this, I always work light to dark, saving those light values for the “sweet” spots in the painting.”
