Saturday Afternoons At the Guild

Welcome to Saturday afternoons at the Guild, where art and community come together. Our programs highlight the talents of local and regional artists through inspiring live painting demonstrations and interactive events.  Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Clements’ Marketplace, our programs are free and open to all. Light refreshments will be served, and seating is limited, so please register in advance. While admission is free, donations are encouraged and greatly appreciated to help us continue bringing high-quality cultural programming to our arts community.

Cathy Chin, September 20

Our Saturday afternoon series of artist demos continue this fall beginning September 20 with Rhode Island artist Cathy Chin.  (Instagram @realandplastic)  “For those who relish in paint and paintings, the work of Rhode Island artist Cathy Chin is a delight to experience. . .  Chin’s work bears a distinctive and gestural hand that is immediately recognizable. Cathy works in watercolor, acrylics and oils.  Her subject matter comes from life and from loose interpretations of photos.  Architectural landscapes and organic forms inform her paintings, done both plein air and in her studio. Cities, neighborhoods, botanical gardens, interiors all find a home on her canvases.

Cathy’s formal education began at RISD and the Rochester Institute of Technology.  She is a member of the New England Watercolor Society, the NH Art Association, and the Art League of RI.  Find Cathy on instagram as @realandplastic.

Gina Croce, October 18

Gina Croce is an Artist/Teacher living in Massachusetts with her husband Jim and two adorable dogs, Opie and Sprocket.  After taking her first art class at the age of 6, she has been obsessed with drawing and painting ever since! 

Gina is the past President of the International Watercolor Society of the USA and a signature member of the Rhode Island Watercolor Society. Her National Award Winning work has been shown here in the United States as well as internationally.

Although Gina works mainly in watercolor, she also paints in both oil and acrylic.   The subject matter she chooses is as diverse as her life, opting to try new and challenging things with each painting and subject she chooses!   

​Being self taught,  Gina has developed her own unique style and teaching methods.    During the pandemic though, teaching at her studio has become impossible so she is offering both group and private zoom classes!   Join us for a fun and educational experience!

Kathy Weber, Portsmouth Arts Guild

Kathleen Weber attended Boston College and UMassDartmouth, graduating with a BFA/Painting.  She has been employed as an advertising artist, a designer and illustrator of greeting cards and other paper goods, and a painting teacher while pursuing her interest in fine art.  Her work was featured on the cover of American Artist magazine, and she has won a number of awards at various art shows.  Her paintings have been shown at galleries in Rhode Island, Boston and Philadelphia. She enjoys painting portraits, still lifes and landscapes.
For the last four years, Kathy has been running portrait painting/drawing sessions on Wednesday afternoons at the Pawtucket Arts Collaborative gallery which are open to the general public for a small fee.
