Calligraphy II

Lynn Litchfield

Ready to take your italic calligraphy further?  This workshop picks up where Beginner Italic Calligraphy left off, giving you the dedicated practice time and guided instruction to refine and deepen the skills you’ve begun to build.

Working with ink and traditional broad nib dip pens, we will revisit the fundamentals – pen positioning, broad strokes and letterform construction –  and push them further, with closer attention to layout, spacing and the consistency that transforms good letterforms into beautiful script.

Open to students who completed our Beginner Italic Calligraphy workshop, as well as any calligraphers looking to sharpen their technique and expand their knowledge.

Cost of materials supplied is included in the tuition. The instructor will also have a variety of tools for students to try.

Lynn Litchfield, Calligrapher

Lynn Litchfield

Lynn is a multi-faceted artist who incorporates a love of calligraphy, learned as a child by her father’s side, and decorative eggs in honor of her Grandmother. She often combines lettering, illustration and illumination. Calligraphy is often incorporated within the imagery, using the words that describe the subject as part of the image and textures. The results are classical, evocative and unexpected.

She graduated from Southeastern Massachusetts University (now UMass Dartmouth) with BFAs in Illustration and Art Education. She studied under master calligrapher Howard Glasser. You can see some of her work at Riverside Art in the Marriette Gallery, where she is a custom framing designer.
