Botanical Drawing and Painting

Please join us for this fun, relaxed and step-by-step drawing and painting 5-week class to celebrate the beauty of spring! You will only need to bring yourself, as all materials are included, including a “flower of the week”. Besides drawing and painting together step by step projected on a large tv screen, you’ll learn some techniques for calculating size, planning your composition, creating a “palette notebook”, fixing drawing or painting errors, mixing colors, transferring your drawings,  and creating a pleasing background. Beginners are welcome, as well as experienced artists!

Elizabeth O'Connell

Elizabeth O’Connell has been painting with watercolor for 20 years and has taught at the Portsmouth Art Guild, The Bristol Art Museum, and Blithewold. She recently completed her Certificate in Natural Science Illustration at Rhode Island School of Design. She sells her paintings at local galleries and is a member of the Natural Science Illustration Guild, The Bristol Art Museum, The Rhode Island Watercolor Society, and The Portsmouth Art Guild. She also is a trained educator and literacy specialist and taught at CCRI as well as in the Barrington Public Schools. She enjoys teaching and working with children as well as adults. Elizabeth is looking forward to an April weeklong  painting holiday in Venice, Italy!

This workshop runs Tuesday, May 19 – June 16, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
