Upcoming Plein Air Events
Join the Portsmouth Arts Guild Plein Air artists as we paint in various locations around Aquidneck Island and beyond. Bring an easel to create a masterpiece or simply a chair and sketchbook to enjoy a sketch. We paint for two hours then meet up for a friendly, optional sharing of work. There is no critique. All abilities are welcome as we are a supportive and encouraging group and these drop-in sessions are free and open to all. Gull Cove, Portsmouth. “The Cove” is a large tidal estuary with many coves and channels suitable for small boat exploration – and lots of water views to paint.

Common Fence Point Playground, Portsmouth. Paint the beautiful marsh views, the Mount Hope Bridge over the sandy beach or a shadowy street scene.

Sunset Cove, Portsmouth. Join us at Sunset Cove, overlooking Bluebill Cove in Island Park with its Adirondack chairs by the water. Paint the coastal view or the crowd, and stay to enjoy a cocktail and watch the sunset.

Warren Waterfront. Paint the picturesque East Bay historic district including the harbor and quaint shops.
